We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Keon Gill, whose life was tragically taken in an act of violence in Kingsbridge. At just 44 years old, Keon’s passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his children, family, and community.
According to authorities, Keon was fatally shot in the early morning hours of January 25 near the intersection of West 242nd Street and Broadway in the Bronx. Police have charged Naya Brown and Pernell Warren in connection with the incident. The shooting occurred shortly after Keon had been celebrating his birthday at a local bar, surrounded by his brother, Luis Gill, and friends. What began as a joyful evening marking another year of life ended in unimaginable tragedy.
Just before 3 a.m., gunfire erupted on the street. Keon was struck in the chest and succumbed to his injuries. His brother Luis was also wounded, suffering a gunshot injury to the leg, and is expected to recover physically. The emotional toll, however, will be far greater and longer lasting.
Beyond the headlines and court proceedings, Keon Gill was a devoted father of four children. Those closest to him describe a man whose world revolved around his kids. Mahogany, the mother of his children, shared that his family was his life and his greatest source of pride. His love, guidance, and presence were central to their daily lives, and his absence will be deeply felt in every milestone and quiet moment to come.
As the legal process moves forward, we remember that at the heart of this tragedy is a family grieving a father, a brother, and a son. Keon’s life mattered. He was more than a victim of violence — he was a parent, a loved one, and a member of a community now left to mourn.
We offer our sincere sympathies to his children, to Luis as he heals, and to all who loved Keon. May they find strength in one another and comfort in the memories of the man who cherished them so deeply.
